Sara Schmidt serves as the Administrative Director and Registrar for Green River Preserve. She is excited to be part of the GRP family in her role which focuses on “all things camper.” Her primary responsibilities include camper registration and billing, camper retention, and the GRP Camp Store. Sara also serves as the Editor of Green River Preserve’s seasonal newsletter, Whispers From The Preserve, and she manages the camper scholarship committee. Her newest endeavor is to help build GRP’s Annual Fund and partnership program.
A local from Hendersonville, North Carolina, Sara began her camp career when she was 8 years old at Camp Merrie-Woode in Sapphire, North Carolina, where she progressed through the years as a camper, counselor, and intern. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Sara had many adventures in the world of video and film production before returning to her home in the mountains to pursue her eternal love of camping.
Sara is the fearless leader of the American Camp Association’s EPIC group (Emerging Professionals in Camping) in WNC. In this role, she organizes trainings and events for local camp professionals. She enjoys promoting summer camp throughout the community, as well as hiking, running, listening to audio books, and debating the best flavor at local ice creamery, Dolly’s.
