OBX Takes To the Banks

The OBX Expeditioners have ventured to the banks and have arrived on Shakelford, ready for the next four days of tent living, stove cooking, and having sand in every possible crevasse! Shakelford is a beautiful island filled with protected bird habitats, wild horses, and very few if any other humans.

The past few days have been packed with long day paddles and skill honing, an afternoon trip to Beaufort including a visit to the historic maritime museum, and packing and preparing for this five day adventure.

The crew plans to spend another night on Shakelford before heading to Cape Lookout the following day. There they will have a layover, visit the lighthouse, do some surf swimming, and perhaps play a few rounds of ocean bingo!
