Eager to get out and explore on some private land in the Blue Ridge Mountains? Green River Preserve is excited to announce access to our 3,400+ acres of woods, trails, river, balds and primitive platform shelters.
We want to offer you, your family, and friends an opportunity to escape the confines of city life and recharge in our fresh mountain air. What better time for campers past and present to share this place with your loved ones.

Day Passes
We are offering a limited amount of reservations for daily passes giving you access to the miles of trails on the Preserve. Once you reserve your date, we will email you trail maps, a day pass for your dashboard and appropriate waivers.
GRP Alumni can hike for free! Please consider a donation to the GRP scholarship fund instead.

Bring your sense of adventure and cook beside the river, sleep under the stars, and hike with your crew to one of your favorite GRP destinations.
We are offering three of our platform tents for primitive camping - the Upper Bald Field shelter, the Hemlock Field shelter, and the Prayer Rock shelter - the latter two are located down by the Green River (“…where paradise lay”).
Camping is available until mid April, 2022.
Once you confirm your reservation, we will contact you with directions to your campsite, a trail map and a pass for your vehicle. Included with your rental fee are private access to the shelter, the land, and a stockpile of wood. All proceeds go into GRP’s Annual Fund which allows us to offer more camper scholarships.

Frequently Asked Questions
You will not. Your camping experience here - whether for the day or for several days - should adhere to the principles of Leave No Trace. Please pack out whatever you pack in.
You might run into other families while exploring our trails.
Unfortunately, no. We have turned off all utilities and do not have the staff to allow for safe supervision.
There is no cell service or wifi access on our property. You will truly be offline while here.
Absolutely! Please be sure to check in at the office before you explore. We want to say hi.
No more than 10 people at a campsite. If you have more people, we ask that you rent an additional campsite. Hemlock Field and Prayer Rock are close and would be good to rent together if you have more than 10.
Yes. Please keep your dog on a leash at all times if they are camping with you. We want to protect the wildlife and your beloved pet while on the property.
All campsites are within 300 yards of the parking area. A parking map will be provided in your information packet.
You can pay us through Venmo (@GreenRiver-preserve) of Pay Pal. Payement is required before your arrival. Please make sure to denote that this is for camping in the notes section.
Email for availability. Once you confirm your date and campsite, you will need to pay for your reservation. After payment is received, you will be sent several forms to fill out, as well as the campsite rules, directions, and parking pass.
If you want to fish while camping at Hemlock Field or Prayer rock it is an extra $35 per person for the day. Please purchase a fishing license in order to fish and let Catherine know. Fly fishing only, all catch and release and please use only barbless hooks.
