It takes a village. Can you lead it?

Green River Preserve is a tight-knit community with a small year-round administrative team. We are looking for three Coordinators to work closely with the year-round team to provide higher-level programmatic support on a seasonal basis. Growing your skills in camping & adventure with a solid seasonal resumé so far? Feel like you’re ready to take the next step from cabin staff or trip leader and have a deep love of camp? One of these roles might be a great fit!

Candidates for these positions must be able to work the full Summer Camp season with additional training in late spring and opportunities are available in Fall & Spring SEE programs for a mid-April through mid-October maximum.

Adventure

Expeditions Coordinator

There and back again! You’ve worked with youth ages 12-17 in a backcountry setting; you’re an avid climber, paddler, or backpacker; and you know a thing or two about co-leader dynamics.

The Expeditions Coordinator works as the right hand of the Adventure Director as a first-line field supporter and a guide of guides. Hop in to help with high-adventure days on the French Broad River or advanced climbing trips, assist with supply and vehicle logistics, and return to Base Camp to help build up older campers into budding Expeditioners!

This position is a great foundation of experience for someone hoping to one day pursue a full-time, year-round career in adventuring. Lead training, communicate with participants’ guardians, coach interns, and build administrative experience while having one foot out the door with field staff.

Green River Preserve will cover the cost of one relevant safety or recreation certification for the newly hired Expeditions Coordinator to acquire prior to the start of their season:

  • Lead Climbing
  • Swiftwater Rescue
  • Wilderness First Responder

Cabin Life Coordinator

I’ll bet you’ve been a camp Counselor a time or two or three. You know that being a Counselor is one of the toughest jobs at camp. That’s why you want to be their number one supporter and resource!

At Green River Preserve, Mentors help to support cabins in may ways: coming by the cabin for evening check-ins, getting to know their campers and Counselors, and providing their perspective as a parent, teacher, or other parts of their life experience. They also have soooo many other things to do in a day. As the Cabin Life Coordinator, Cabinville is your domain! You’ll know everyone by name and probably their favorite color and ice cream flavor, too!

The Cabin Life Coordinator is the primary point person for cabin dynamics throughout the camp session, responding to camper and staff needs by coaching staff, bolstering Counselors’ ownership of their cabin systems, and serving as additional support when challenging behaviors arise. Work closely with the Administrative Director to coordinate staff- and parent-guardian communications. You’ll also meet regularly with Counselors to debrief their experiences and offer support/resources.

You’ll work with the Programs Director to lead trainings to develop Counselor skills, help pair Co-Counselor teams, and schedule time off. You’ll grow your administrator toolbox and make a real difference in the health and wellbeing of our staff and campers.

Green River Preserve will cover the cost of one relevant certification or continuing education course for the newly hired Cabin Life Coordinator to acquire prior to the start of their season:

  • Youth Mental Health First Aid
  • ACA Leadership Courses
  • Others considered by request

Special Programs & Activities Coordinator

You know what it takes to pull off a great event: everyone in their place, expectations made clear, stage set, materials prepped, a dynamic host, and a solid cleanup plan. Summer camp is really just one big culmination of many small events that move our mission forward!

For the SPA Coordinator, it’s all about schedules, schedules, schedules! While we love some unstructured Free Time at GRP, schedules help us make the most of each day. In addition to camper and staff activity schedules, the SPA Coordinator is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of afternoon camp activities. As an American Camp Association accredited organization, we uphold ACA standards and best practices - these are monitored in activities by the SPA Coordinator, who conducts regular and frequent observations to provide staff feedback, identify areas of growth, and ensure campers are getting a high quality learning experience. This position requires someone who is equally adept at behind-the-desk administration as they are a well-spoken and engaging leader.
