As a native of the North Carolina Piedmont, William found his love and passion for helping others early in his life by volunteering at his local church by helping the less fortunate and tutoring refugees. His love for summer camp bloomed when he first attended Green River Preserve at the age of 12. Before college, you could often find William reading books by naturalists such as Gary Snyder and Gregory Reck. After entering into college, William worked as a lifeguard for a year, and then spent his next 3 summers working for Green River Preserve as a summer camp counselor, expedition leader, and a leader during the fall and spring School of Environmental Education (SEE) programs. In the past year William has fostered his passion for the Spanish language, and cultural anthropology, in the Amazon region in Ecuador and Valparaiso , Chile. William is excited to be coming back to GRP as a counselor, doing what he loves most: working with inspired youth, living outside, and generally having a good time.
