After a 5 day 4 night stent of backpacking on the South Fork of the Animas River, we were finally forced to retreat due to unseasonably cold and wet conditions. But that didn’t stop us from having fun. First day out of the woods and we used our rainy day to explore a 1/3 of a mile deep into a mountain, 3600 feet underground on the Old Hundred Mine Tour. Then we went to the San Juan County Historical Museum to learn even more about the areas history. Small town, big story!!! We look forward to some fairer weather to bag the last couple hikes on our schedule, then, on to our rafting trip in Moab!
