What's on the Menu?

Adventuring on the Preserve requires plenty of energy; between waterfall hikes, mornings on mountain bikes, and reaching the top of the climbing tower, fueling our bodies for a full day on the land is important! Meals at camp are a coveted time to share stories from mentor hikes and activities, and everyone has a favorite dish they look forward to from the endlessly talented kitchen staff.

We start the day off strong with hearty breakfasts, including biscuits, french toast, and breakfast tacos - of course, there is always a line at the salad bar, where yogurt and fresh berries are plentiful. After a morning spent on beautiful mentor hikes (and hopefully a few grand-slaminal sightings!) we return once again to the lodge for lunch, where grilled cheese with tomato soup, pretzel bun sandwiches, or meatball subs replenish our energy for an afternoon of activities. Snack is the perfect time to transition between activities, where the line is always ‘bout a mile for frozen grapes, pretzels, or even “Sandy’s” cookies!

Dinnertime means new dishes on the table, especially during themed nights, where a Pirate ship transformation may bring bean tacos - other days, chicken alfredo, pizza, or enchiladas are eagerly awaited. And, of course, breadsticks are a rare and very popular commodity! Dessert can include anything from brownies, cake pops, or strawberry shortcake. If you’re the lucky cabin mate of a GRP birthday, there is a sprinkle-covered cake ready to share after the candles have been blown out and plenty of slices to go around. The good food only gets better on CampOut, especially when campers have the opportunity to learn how to use WhisperLite stoves and personalize their own pita pizzas and pancakes! Burritos night, Sunbutter lunches, and s’mores make for a delicious few days sleeping under the stars. There is no shortage of scrumptious meals at GRP, where “camp food” means only the best!
