Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Cline has been intimately familiar with the Appalachian wilderness since he learned to walk. He fondly remembers spending summers in and around Boone, and hiking and backpacking were staples of his early life. His grandfather was a confident outdoorsman and took him on backpacking trips as young as seven years old, and family hiking trips were common. Cline was also a Boy Scout in his childhood. There, he learned a wide variety of wilderness and leadership skills, and helped plan a number of backpacking trips in his troop, including a two-week trip to Philmont Scout Ranch. backpacking frequently with his close friends, taking many of them on their first excursions into the wilderness, and hiking over 200 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Additionally, Cline has a passion for illustration, painting, and nature photography, taking inspiration from his time in the wilderness and his love for animals. Cline is now a student at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and is majoring in Environmental Science and Visual Arts. He is involved in the college’s outing club and has attended backpacking trips all around Maine. Cline was drawn to Green River Preserve as a past camper of seven years, and is so excited to create positive experiences for campers!
