Hi, I’m Richard!

Rotating Mentor

Richard Moon first came to the Green River Preserve as a counselor in the summer of 1993, after completing a degree in Graphic Design from North Carolina State University. He has been an art teacher in Roanoke, Virginia for the past 26 years, and worked as an Environmental Educator at Rock Eagle 4-H center in Georgia prior to that. This will be Richard’s twelfth summer at GRP. His son Luke, and his daughter, Blair, have both attended GRP as campers. Over the past 4 summers, Richard has backpacked a 589 mile section of the Appalachian Trail, from Hot Springs, North Carolina, to Waynesboro, Virginia.
