Riley found her passion for nature early in life while exploring the forests with her childhood dogs. She later went to school at North Carolina State University for ecological engineering. During her studies, she spent a summer at an international girls and boys scouting camp in Bohinj, Slovenia which opened her door to camp life and filling her with joy. After graduating, Riley’s curiosity led her to a seasonal position with the national forest in Colorado as a watershed technician. Here she trucked through the backcountry trying not to get stuck on dirt (mud) roads and took kids on long hikes. She then worked at Piedmont Wildlife Center as an outdoor educator leading environmental education activities, forest games, and natural material crafts. She realized she feels most alive when fueling people’s love for nature through play, discovery, and adventure. In her free time she loves to garden, cook, dance, and hike. She cannot wait to join GRP for her first season as a mentor
