Today was the day before campout, so we’re all getting very excited to hike, pitch tents, and roast marshmallows.
This morning on mentor hikes campers explored the Balds and even did some expert tracking to find bear and coyote scat. They became Polar Bears and Extreme Polar Bears at Uncle’s Falls, and kept their eyes open for bears.
During activities, the weather remained beautiful; very refreshing after so much rain last session. Sandy and some campers found a large rattlesnake on the road—another Grand Slam Animal! Campers had a great time in BB Skeet and many shot difficult targets. In Outdoor Skills campers learned new abilities, while in climbing, many reached the top of the Tower.
After a refreshing free time and lots of ziplining, we had dinner followed by a visit from Evil Ort Man and Evil Scrappy. Our evening program was Campout Prep, so everyone became even more enthusiastic about this weekend’s adventure.
