Green River Preserve will be utilizing the technology of Google+ Hangouts to bring camp to your home! Starting March 28, we will host Virtual Road Show events where users can log in, watch a camp video, ask questions, and meet camp directors and other camp families.
A Hangout is a video conference call. Users can be invited to participate so they can ask questions to the directors or other camp families. Through the Hangouts On Air feature, people who do not want to be “in the Hangout” can still view the Hangout via a live stream at camp’s YouTube page.
Viewers who are watching the live stream via YouTube can ask questions on Twitter by using the hashtag #GRP2013 and get answers almost instantaneously to questions.
If you want to participate, you may be asking, “How do I become Hangout-able?” It is a simple as having a Google account (Gmail, Google+, etc), downloading a plug-in, and having a webcam and microphone.
Currently, we have general information two Hangout events scheduled for each Thursday in April (with the first one launching on March 28) with the first session running from 5:00-5:30p and the second session from 6:00-6:30p eastern time.
Additionally if you would like to host a party at your home to share GRP with other families, we can also utilize Hangouts to have a director “attend” the party remotely to be available to talk about camp and answer participant questions if we are unable to get to your hometown in person.
If you are interested in participating in a Virtual Road Show Event (either watching or joining the Hangout), please Like us on Facebook as the latest news, information, and links regarding these events will be posted there.
