We had a glorious day with BRX on the lower Green River. These expeditioners showed a lot of fortitude as they tackled class 2 & 3 white water rapids. We boated a total of 6 miles downriver and only had a few flips along the way. Everyone finished happy, healthy, and with a great sense of accomplishment. Wednesday, Snowbear, one of GRP’s senior mentors came out to the Expeditioners base camp and spent the day teaching them awareness skills, fire by friction, and making primitive crafts. The group concluded their day by going on a foraging hike for edibles for dinner. Phil from the farm came out and we harvested 2 chickens and made a wonderful stew with 31 different farm and forest ingredients. The crew claims it was absolutely delicious! It was a great lesson in where our food comes from to watch the process from start to finish. Today, Thursday, they depart for Pisgah National Forest and their 5 night backpacking trip. We plan to hear from them over the weekend and post an update. Until then, please enjoy these photos from the first few days of the BRX trip!
