OBX1 kicks off with Sand, Sun, and FUN!!

Do you like the beach and kayaking and swimming and being awesome?? Well I can guarantee you the ten new Outer Banks expeditioners do!! Yesterday was the first day of a great 2 weeks. After drop-off and a WARM welcome in Stella, NC the group got to officially meet their leaders, Lawton, Kelly, and Ian. Once everyone arrived, they drove a little ways to their outpost.

The group went straight into a Respect Circle where the expeditioners agree to “respect themselves, respect each other, and respect all living things” while they are part of the Green River Preserve community. For lunch they had yummy grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Getting into the water, the OBXers reviewed all the different parts of their kayaks and practiced their wet exits. Everyone is having a great time being on the water! For supper they enjoyed burgers, fresh salad, and ice-cold watermelon!

Today, the expeditioners are exploring the water and practicing more skills, like paddling and steering. Overall, the trip is off to a great start and everyone is having a great time!!
