OBX1 Update

The last six days for the OBXers has been full of adventure, learning, and new experiences! Friday, the group got to explore the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shore. There they got to learn about different birds, pet stingrays, and learn about local wildlife native to the Outer Banks. Saturday the expeditioners paddled the river and got some sun. The plan for Sunday was to go visit Cape Lookout, but instead they went to Beaufort Island to the Maritime Museum.

Cape Lookout

Sunset at Stella

On Monday the campers liked staying overnight at Cape Lookout and taking long walks on the beach! (Actually, it was just one walk…3 miles to be exact!) On Tuesday, they went up to the lighthouse and had an amazing time. Today the campers did a fair amount of fishing off the pier. They caught gar and other local fish. The OBXers also had a rare opportunity to see a Loggerhead Turtle lay eggs on the beach, watch the Beach Patrol dig up the eggs and move them to a protected area. Overall, the last week has been wonderful!
