Dear GRP Families and Friends,
Our Green River Valley is in danger of being destroyed. Duke Energy has proposed a potential route of construction for transmission lines across Henderson County. Bob’s Creek Road and our neighboring camp, Falling Creek, would be heavily impacted. Our former office manager, Linda, would lose her home.
The Green River Valley is a unique pocket with beautiful mountain views, creeks, and natural springs. The proposed lines would change the characteristics of these unspoiled qualities we’ve come to know in the valley. The 150-foot swath of clear-cut land that is maintained with herbicides could potentially impact the water supplies from many private springs. It is a big concern.
Yates Pharr, Director of Falling Creek Camp, recently posted a beautiful blog about this on their website. We could not say it better. Please read Falling Creek’s blog.
Please join us in this crusade. It is going to take a huge number of people for Duke Energy to listen and we need your help. There is a place to send in comments by August 14th. Below is the link where you can write to them, however, we ask that you please be constructive! Voice your opinion on Duke Energy comments
If you live close by there is a meeting on Tuesday, August 11th at 7:00 pm at Hoopers Creek Community Center, 458 Hoopers Creek Road, Fletcher.
Thank you for your support. We will continue to keep you posted.
