For today’s Staff Spotlight, we caught up with Kelsey Golembieski!
Q: What is your position at GRP this Summer?
A: Counselor
Q: How many years have you been at GRP?
A: This will be my first year at GRP.
Q: What are you currently doing?
A: I am currently a student at Grand Valley State University studying Environmental Science.
Q: What is your spirit animal and why?
A: Probably a wolf because they stay calm and collected but still have a strong will power. They are also very social animals, but can still be independent, just like me.
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: I am very passionate about our environment. It is where we live and breathe and it is so important to take care of it. It is also so beautiful and deserving of appreciation.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside?
A: I love to hike, whether it be a day hike for a few hours or multi-day backpacking trips. It is nice because when you hiking all distractions disappear and it is just you and nature.
Q: Tell us about your favorite trip/experience.
A: Last summer, my family and I took a trip out to Yosemite National Park in California and hiked. The views were so majestic; I was in awe the whole time.
Q: Why did you choose to come to GRP this summer?
A: I believe it is important for our future generations to appreciate the world around them. Today’s world revolves around technology, so for kids to take even just a week out of their summer to spend immersed in nature can bring about a new understanding for them.
Q: What is something interesting that happened to you this year?
A: The best experience I have had this year was seeing my favorite band, The Lumineers, live. They are so talented and inspiring and hearing the story behind the lyrics was a beautiful experience. I definitely cried.
Q: Where is your favorite place to hike?
A: Anywhere! I will hike any trail, big or small, and would like to get to all of the National Parks in my life. But my favorite hike so far has been the hike to Yosemite Falls in California.
We’re always looking to add qualified, enthusiastic, and adventurous people to our team!
