Staff Spotlight: Brenden Franklin

For today’s Staff Spotlight, we caught up with Brenden Franklin!

Q: What is your position at GRP this Summer?
A: Counselor

Q: How many years have you been at GRP?
A: This will be my first year at GRP.

Q: What are you currently doing?
A: I am working as a marketing and distribution representative for Red bull Europe.

Q: What is your spirit animal and why?
A: A Great Horned Owl because they are often perceived as wise animals; they exude an aura of mystery. Also, they are highly nocturnal, which for the most part I’ve grown to enjoy.

Q: What are you passionate about?
A: I am very passionate about outdoor conservation and protecting it for future generations. I also have passion for capturing the outdoors in both the photographic and drawing mediums.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside?
A: Alpine Climbing! The cold air and high altitude just make my day just that much better; I can’t think of a place or a thing I’d rather be doing.

Q: Tell us about your favorite trip/experience.
A: One of my favorite experiences has been climbing up to and exploring the Austrian Ice Cave, Eisriesenwelt, and going sledding up there in July…. Yes July.

Q: Why did you choose to come to GRP this summer?
A: I wanted to come to GRP to have a great summer spreading my love of the outdoors with my fellow counselors and campers!

Q: What is something interesting that happened to you this year?
A: I’ve been living abroad and traveling in Europe!

Q: Where is your favorite place to hike?
A: I particularly like hiking in the Rhone region of the Alps. The jagged peaks and year round ice make for spectacular views and challenging conditions that make it even more fun!
