For this week’s Staff Spotlight, we caught up with Isaac Chelminski!

Q: What is your position at GRP this Summer?
A: Counselor

Q: How many years have you been at GRP?
A: This will be my second year at GRP as a staff member and my ninth year overall.

Q: What are you currently doing?
A: I am currently a sophomore at Elon University, majoring history with a minor in Italian.

Q: What is your spirit animal and why?
A: I would pick a black bear, as I’ve come face to face with a few at camp.

Q: What are you passionate about?
A: Just to name a few, I am passionate about my family and friends, being outside, inspiring the next generation, sports, traveling, and food.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside?
A: My favorite thing to do outside is find a beautiful spot on a river and go swimming.

Q: Tell us about your favorite trip/experience.
A: Some of my favorite experiences were the hikes I did at camp, as well as going out west to Colorado and Utah and whitewater rafting with my family.

Q: Why did you choose to come back to GRP this summer?
A: I chose to come back to GRP for a number of reasons, a few being that GRP is a second home to me, I love the land and the people, and I wanted to give the campers the same great experience I received as a camper.

Q: What is something interesting that happened to you this year?
A: I’ve always been passionate about music and this year I took it upon myself to learn to play an instrument. This year I started playing the saxophone, and after consistent practice I’ve seen a lot of improvement in my playing ability.

Q: Where is your favorite place to hike?
A: My favorite place to hike on the Preserve would definitely be through the Green River!

We’re always looking to add qualified, enthusiastic, and adventurous people to our team!
