Staff Spotlight: Anna Ewing
For today’s Staff Spotlight, we caught up with Anna Ewing!
Q: What is your position at GRP this Summer?
A: Counselor
Q: How many years have you been at GRP?
A: This will be my first year at GRP.
Q: What are you currently doing?
A: I am working as a waitress/host at a restaurant while finishing my undergraduate degree in Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I graduate this May and am looking forward to the opportunities ahead of me!
Q: What is your spirit animal and why?
A: My spirit animal would be a llama. I think they’re really cool animals, and they can travel long distances and high altitudes. I’ve always wanted to travel the world or climb a mountain, so I would definitely be a llama if I could!
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: I am passionate about my photography and learning new things! I constantly have my camera around my neck, and a book in my backpack.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside?
A: My favorite thing to do outside is to hike up to the bluffs, string up my hammock, and dive into a new book.
Q: Tell us about your favorite trip/experience.
A: My favorite trip was when I solo backpacked through the Mark Twain National Forest, Missouri. On my hike, there was a family of deer that kept following me, making me jump every time they ran through the forest or across the trail. I ended up finding a little sand bar along the lake that had a gorgeous view of the whole lake and forest.
Q: Why did you choose to come to GRP this summer?
A: I chose GRP because of the interconnectedness with nature. We can learn a lot about our world and ourselves by being apart of it and GRP has an amazing opportunity to experience that!
Q: What is something interesting that happened to you this year?
A: Something interesting that happened to me this year, is that I started working on launching a website for my photography! I can’t wait until it’s up and running.
Q: Where is your favorite place to hike?
A: My favorite place to hike is this little trail through the bluffs (near where I go to school), and it leads to a little cave that is right on the edge of the bluff. The cave overlooks the whole city and is the perfect spot for watching the sunset.
