Something you might not know about GRP–it’s awesome. So incredibly awesome, in fact, that we have 100 return campers for Session 3. We have several campers that have been coming to the Preserve for the last eight years of their lives. I think we have a total of seven campers who’re completely new to Green River Preserve, but that won’t stay that way for very long. Before the end of the day, all of our campers will have had the chance to get to know their cabin-mates and their counselors and probably a whole bunch of other kids they’ve never met. Camp unites people in a way that just can’t happen out in the real world. This is a home as much as it is an experience. We all welcome each other, together, as we move forward into the session.
Today, we’ve had swim review–which we were able to complete before the afternoon storms–and right now, camp is hungrily devouring whatever tasty dishes our kitchen staff has created for us. In just a little while, we’ll gather round at Upper Council Fire, to listen to the Green River Ramblers and, of course, Star telling one of his epic tales. Then it’s off to bed as early as possible to prepare for tomorrow mornings first mentor hike of Session 3! Will we get a Grand Slam!? Maybe. What will tomorrow’s weather forecast mean for camp!? Who knows. Are we ready for an extraordinary camp experience!? Yes, yes we are.
