Drayven Hoyle

Hi! I’m Drayven

Counselor

Drayven heard about Green River Preserve for the first time while on a backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail through Tennessee and North Carolina. Once he had heard about GRP he applied to become a counselor and he couldn’t be more excited to call North Carolina home for the summer. Currently, Drayven is a sophomore at Hanover College, double majoring in geology and secondary education. He wants to be able to teach students about the beauty this world has to offer. At Hanover College, he decided that he wanted to spend every waking minute outdoors. Drayven enjoys slacklining, hiking, hammocking, rock climbing, and longboarding. Drayven’s favorite outdoor trip that he has been on was a backpacking trip he went on last fall break. In the midst of four days, Drayven and a friend had gotten a little over 30 miles in and made some of the best memories. He loves how a very last minute idea turned into memories that he will have for a lifetime. Drayven’s favorite backcountry meal includes rice and dehydrated fruit. He says that making rice over a fire gives the rice a bit of a smokey flavor and he happens to be a big fan of it. Another essential for him would have to be chai tea. Drayven is a huge tea drinker and on a chilly hike it’s always nice to make a fire and drink some warm tea with a beautiful view (pictured above).
