Minta will be joining GRP as a Nurse this summer. Although this will be her first summer as a Nurse at GRP, she feels like she is coming home. Minta has been a camper, an Expeditioner, a CIT, and a Counselor at GRP. Minta’s journey to becoming a nurse has been circuitous. After attending Clark University, she worked as research assistant studying forest ecology, taught health outreach programs, and later worked on several farms. In the past few years as a nurse, Minta has worked at a summer camp in upstate New York and also with individuals that have experienced homelessness. Currently, she is wrapping up her doctorate at the University of Vermont to become a Nurse Practitioner. Minta loves playing her fiddle and banjo! Minta’s favorite outdoor activity as of late is cross country mountain biking. Two summers ago, she biked across Spain, through the Pyrenees Mountains from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. It was a grand adventure! Spain has delicious fresh fruits, olives, cheese, bread, and sausage, so the best backcountry fare while bikepacking in Spain usually included some combination of those foods. When Minta is not in the Health Hut, she hopes to enjoy some Mentor Bikes with campers this summer. Some of her favorite GRP memories are of Sandy reading The Invitation and Chief Seattle’s letter at the Upper Council Fire. It’s memories like these, the land, the traditions, and the amazing staff that keep Minta coming back to GRP.
