This is Sarah’s first summer at Green River Preserve. Currently, Sarah is a senior at Millsaps College, in Jackson, Mississippi. She will be graduating in May with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and a minor in Neuroscience. Sarah chooses to spend her summer with a bunch of kids in nature because she believes that we all should incorporate nature and the outdoors into our daily lives. She says that one’s life becomes so much more meaningful when one honors the connection between humans and the Earth. In appreciating the world around us, we can direct our life’s purpose in a much more impactful manner. Sarah cannot wait to share her love of the outdoors with all of the campers, in the hope that they become more comfortable with themselves and the world around them! Sarah’s favorite outdoor activity is trail running in the early morning, hammocking, and kayaking. Sarah’s favorite thing to eat in the backcountry is either s’mores or trail mix. Her favorite outdoor adventure is a kayaking and hiking trip she went on in the summer of 2018 with fellow Millsaps students and a few field biologists. The group explored Tishomingo National Park in search of hellbenders, salamanders, and turtles! They kayaked, bouldered, and frolicked around in the sunshine. After this summer, Sarah is excited to begin medical school in August 2019.
