Mairé grew up moving all over the east coast of the United States. While she was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she claims North Carolina as home. Mairé found Green River Preserve when her family moved to North Carolina when she was in middle school. She was a base camper and did both Blue Ridge and the Outer Banks expeditions. Mairé attended the University of Vermont where she double majored in Religious Studies and Anthropology, with a focus on Cultural Anthropology. After graduating college, she joined AmeriCorps where she has been tutoring kids in reading, and teaching English as a second language to Haitian and Mexican immigrants in Florida. She started working at GRP as the camp nanny for Anne and Steve’s children. This summer she will be helping out at the health hut, and anywhere else that needs her! This will be Mairé’s 10th summer at Green River Preserve; she can’t wait to be back at her favorite place on the planet to continue seeking the joy!
