GRP's Strategic Vision

In the fall of 2019, our administrative team and Board of Directors began a process of strategic planning to hone our purpose as an organization and establish our goals for the next five years. We started this process by asking our current camper parents why they send their children to camp. Overwhelmingly, the answers were our values. Our families believe in what we believe in.

We think GRP is a magical place both because of the physical beauty and the ethos. We like that you are trying to help kids think about who they are, what makes them unique, and help them to celebrate those qualities while celebrating the uniqueness of others around them. We also love the emphasis on the outdoors and learning to care for the environment.

We do things intentionally and with purpose. Hearing that our values resonate with our families is affirming to us an organization and community. We believe we are making an impact and we thank you for helping us be successful in this venture.

2020 certainly strayed from our planned programs (wow, did it ever?!?) and some of our well intentioned goals for the year had to be put on hold. As our year-round team is gearing up for our next season, one of our main priorities is refocusing on our strategic planning goals we set. As part of that process, we want to share with you, our community, what those goals encompass. We are excited for this journey and direction over the next 5 years. We know as individuals and as an organization- we can be better and do better. These goals, worded best as affirmation statements, serve as guideposts for our growth.

Green River Preserve’s Strategic Plan Goals 2020-2025
  1. GRP experiences financial stability and freedom to support all desired initiatives. GRP is the non-profit of choice for many local and regional donors.
  2. GRP’s camper population is more diverse and inclusive. GRP is full with a waiting list for all sessions.
  3. GRP continues to cultivate a great workplace. Both administrative and seasonal staff want to return year after year.
  4. GRP makes conscious decisions based on how we can help to improve the environment. This commitment helps us continue our goal of raising future environmental stewards.
  5. GRP and Schenck Family Conservancy have a plan for the future. They have systems in place to protect the organization, help the land flourish, and grow the facilities.

Now, as you might imagine, each of these affirmations has multiple action steps involved that will take time. We are gearing up for good things in our community and we are excited to share with you the process. In fact, we would even love your input. Stay tuned for updates and progress; and, as always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions.

Yours in Camping,

Anne
