Catherine Schenck
Executive Director
Catherine serves as the Executive Director. She is excited to spread her love of GRP with the Staff and through Alumni events, and special camp programs both at Base Camp and throughout the Carolinas. Catherine also runs the Fall and Spring SEE Program (School of Environmental Education).
Having grown up at Green River Preserve and on the trout streams of North Carolina, Catherine has always loved spending time outdoors. After attending other WNC camps as a child, GRP called her home and Catherine worked her way up the ranks as a Counselor in Training, Counselor, Mentor, and Program Intern. Along the way learning a love for teaching and explaining the surroundings of the natural world.
After graduating from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in History and Minor in Entrepreneurship, Catherine traveled to Atlanta where she was a Middle School Learning Resource Specialist and Lacrosse Coach for four years. Eventually, she returned to the mountains and Asheville to get her Masters in Public Affairs with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Western Carolina University.
Catherine enjoys finding new trout streams and hiking paths, good books read in hammocks outside, fun adventures with friends, and spreading her love of all things camp!
