Matthew grew up exploring nature in Texas, Mexico and Colorado. From early on he had an interest in everything nature, especially fish and water. Later he studied Aquatic Biology at the University of Texas in Austin and Texas State University in San Marcos. During that time he worked as scientist on endangered fish species, traveling through out Mexico for over 5 years. After that Matthew found he had talent for sharing his love of nature with young people and began teaching Science for more than a decade. His favorite part was showing students the wonders of science especially field trips. Highlights of his teaching included trips all over Texas, teaching awards and funding by the National Science Foundation for innovative teaching. He is excited to work at Green river and experience the beautiful nature there with all the campers this coming season.
