“Then, one day, when you least expect it, the great adventure finds you.” -Ewan McGregor
This quote resonates within my mind, every time I join BRX on their epic adventures. As it is, I can only visit once or twice per session, to visually capture moments that I hope demonstrate the excitement and joy that our team experiences. Yesterday, we took the canoes to Rosman, set into the French Broad, and paddled downstream. With our highly apt expedition leaders teaching valuable life skills and whitewater paddling techniques, the day was choc full of listening, learning and laughter. I probably say this every time I write about Blue Ridge Expeditions, but I can’t help it–each BRXer and team leader brings a smile to my face, every step of the way. Every one of our BRXers are truly spectacular human beings.
We floated down what is probably the most beautiful stretch of the French Broad River, for about an hour, before eddying out on a small beach, for lunch. Between team leader, Carolyn, grabbing a lamprey out of the water and our campers willingness to get into water to learn proper whitewater swimming methods, it was a day to remember.
Thanks, y’all, for being incredible teachers and students, and for all the photo ops.
