Today marks the first Campout of the summer. This morning we enjoyed a late breakfast and prepared pack-out lunches for the excursion. Dozens of Campers, Counselors and our Mentors poured into the back field to pack up for the adventure into the wild. Marshmallows, pita-pizza kits, beef jerky, homemade banana bread, along with lightweight cooking gear and utensils, tarps, ropes, sleeping bags and sleeping pads, all found it’s way into various backpacks in each group. The sun was shining when they left and it continues to be a beautiful evening on the Preserve. They say it always rains on Campout, but here’s to hoping that tonight stays dry and cozy.
