End of an Era

No words can truly explain the love and joy that our campers share for this place. The unfaltering magic and wonder of Green River Preserve was so apparent tonight, that as I write this, it’s hard not to let my emotions get the better of me. Every moment of Closing Ceremonies was a moment to remember. Every chord was played with so much heart. As over 100 souls gathered around the lake to set Wish Boats off into the night, each of us could feel that it was the end of an era. With so many campers aging out, the tears could not be contained, and that’s okay. There’s no need to hide your deepest emotions when you’re with your family, and that’s what we’ve become. Campers, thank you–each of you–for everything that you’ve given to this place. The memory of this past 3-Week-Session will live on forever, in your Spirit Stones, in the memory of your happiness and in every inch of Green River Preserve, because, let’s face it, once you’ve been here, a part of you will never, ever leave.
