“May this be the day we come together…” Amanda Gorman
Winter-appropriate temperatures have finally settled in here in western NC. No snow yet, but we are hopeful. Hope(ful) is a word that has been rolling around in my head for the past week. Something about a figurative turning of the page and the blank slate that a new year provides fills me with hopeful thoughts of what the new year will bring. We know that it will bring many of you and your children back to us here on the Preserve whether it be for Base Camp, Expeditions, Family Camps, Alumni Weekend, Farm Feast, and more - details to come soon. We can’t wait to welcome friends old and new out to our pocket of the woods. The year unfurls before us, as yet unwritten. I, for one, plan to write as much joy, wonder, curiosity, acceptance, kindness, and hope into these days, weeks, and months. What do you plan to write in your pages this year?
....This hope is our door, our portal. Even if we never get back to normal, Someday we can venture beyond it, To leave the known and take the first steps. So let us not return to what was normal, But reach toward what is next.....
